Environmental actions

Beach cleaning

Between 2022 and 2024, we carried out the Clean Waves on the Road Expedition, in partnership with Sea Shepherd Brazil. This scientific initiative covered more than 7,000 km of the Brazilian coast, passing through 306 beaches in 201 municipalities, with the aim of mapping solid waste present on the coast.

During the expedition, we promoted more than 170 clean-up efforts, which resulted in the collection of 2.4 tons of waste. The project involved the participation of 40 recycling cooperatives and more than 600 students, who were engaged in educational activities aboard the “Guardião da Costa” (Guardian of the Coast) laboratory bus.

In 2024, we released the official research report, considered the largest survey ever conducted in Brazil on marine pollution. In addition to the environmental impact, the expedition also offered free dental care to waste pickers from the cooperatives and promoted environmental education activities in local communities, reinforcing our vision that social and environmental issues go hand in hand.

Carbon Neutrality

We are the only healthcare operator in Brazil with 100% of our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions neutralized. Since 2021, all of the company’s emissions (since its founding in 1987) have been offset through the Carbon Neutral Project, using carbon credits. This journey has earned us the GHG Protocol Silver Seal, which recognizes the transparency and robustness of our emissions inventory.

Conscious Consumption

We value efficiency in the use of natural resources and take measures to reduce our environmental impact:

  • Digitization of 93% of dental treatment forms (GTOs), significantly reducing paper use;
  • Digital cards and information for beneficiaries;
  • 100% of the electricity consumed comes from renewable sources certified via I-REC Certificates;
  • Elimination of disposable plastic cups with the distribution of reusable cups in offices.
Social Actions

Since our foundation, our purpose has been to democratize access to quality dental care, continuously strengthening our social action through initiatives that promote health, inclusion, and well-being. Each year, we donate more than 12,000 dental plans and maintain partnerships with 40 third sector organizations that share our vision of positive impact and shared value.

With the motto “We do more. We are more,” in 2024 we expanded our support to various institutions that work on behalf of children, youth, women, minority groups, and other social causes. Among our partner organizations are Fundação Gol de Letra, Rede Tênis Brasil, Projeto Swell, Instituto Ronald McDonald, Cruzando Histórias, Sea Shepherd, and others, all aligned with the commitment to transform lives and generate a positive impact on society.

Volunteer Smile

Volunteer Smile is Odontoprev’s corporate volunteer program, created to strengthen employee engagement and expand our positive impact on society. Through this initiative, we promote social well-being and strengthen the bond between the company and the communities in which we operate. In addition to benefiting society, the program also contributes to the professional growth of our employees, allowing them to develop skills such as leadership, creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem solving.

Indigenous Smile Project

The Indigenous Smile Project was created with the purpose of ensuring equal access to comprehensive oral health care for indigenous peoples, recognizing the structural challenges faced by these communities. In 2023, the World Health Organization (WHO) reinforced the urgency of ensuring equitable care for these populations, and Odontoprev responded with action.

In partnership with NGOs, including UNICEF, the project set a goal of transforming the lives of 30,000 indigenous people by 2025, promoting health, dignity, and inclusion. The initiative also includes the production and dissemination of educational materials on health, respecting cultural diversity and strengthening the role of communities.

AC CAMARGO PARTNERSHIP

Since 2017, the two institutions have been collaborating to promote early diagnosis of oral cancer, combining expertise and technology for the benefit of health.

When a dentist from Odontoprev’s accredited network detects a suspicious lesion, they can capture images using an exclusive app. These images are sent directly to specialists at the A.C. Camargo Cancer Center for analysis and technical opinion. The app was developed to ensure high-quality photographs of the oral cavity, maintaining a safe distance from the patient and preserving their identity, thus ensuring privacy and biosafety throughout the process.
